Showa American Story is an upcoming single-player action rpg where a young woman has risen from the dead in an America that has been bought out by Japan. A lot of time has passed since she had died and now the world is a wasteland full of zombies and other creatures.
Chouko, the main protagonist and previously dead girl, discovers that
she has new super powers that will help her face off against these
unfamiliar creatures. She'll drive around the world in her trusty RV where you'll be able to customize and upgrade your vehicle and character with
new looks and abilities.
Showa American Story is a hybrid of third-person hack-and-slash and shooting. It's ridiculously gorey and silly with interesting and whacky characters. It reminds me of games like Killer Is Dead, Lollipop Chainsaw, and the Dead Rising series. The developer describes the game as a love letter to 80's pop culture.
I had seen this game awhile back and wishlisted it but I wasn't writing in my blog at the time so hadn't shared it then. I was reminded of it yesterday so decided to share it now. There is currently no release date for Showa American Story but it is set to launch this year for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
