Dune: Awakening, developed and published by Funcom, is having a public large-scale Beta on May 9th through the 12th. You can sign up now directly through Steam via the Request Access button. Don't confuse it with the Character Creator & Benchmark if you're in a hurry to sign up. That said, you do get rewarded with a knife skin in the game if you decide to try the character creator out.
If for some reason you don't get an invite after Requesting Access, wait until at least the day the beta is set to be active to see if you get invited, they'll also be giving away tens of thousands of keys during live streams starting on the 10th. There will be no NDA for this beta. You'll be able to play most of Act 1, with the first twenty hours of the game being available to experience.
Dune: Awakening is a third-person open world survivalcraft rpg. I've watched a couple of live streams and it looks like cool to me, with some obvious issues. I haven't quite been sold on it yet. I've still never read any of the books or watched any of the movies. I've been meaning to. I intend to check this beta out. Based on the store page, you'll probably want 60 - 75gb of HDD space to play the beta.
Dune: Awakening is set to launch on June 10th for PC while it is planned to release later for PS5, and XBX|S as well. It's priced at $49.99 for the base game. The Deluxe Edition includes the Season Pass at $69.99, and the Ultimate Edition is $89.99 for no real reason unless you think the digital soundtrack and art book are worth twenty bucks. At least this deluxe edition includes the season pass. Editions that just add a couple skins for twenty more dollars are pretty damn stupid and disgusting. You'll get to play the game five days ahead of release if you order the deluxe or ultimate versions.
Funcom shared a new cinematic trailer but I couldn't care less about cinematic only trailers. To me, they're just spoilers of the story that I'll see when I play the game. The trailer below is older and has the wrong release date. Thanks for reading. Game on.
