Assassin's Creed Shadows First Major Patch April 8th

Ubisoft just announced their first major patch for Assassin's Creed Shadows will be available on April 8th. There were a few updates that stood out to me that I'm really glad to see so I wanted to share them.

This first patch note is something I've seen lots of players discussing on different forums: auto-follow for the horse to use the Pathfinder option to travel to your marked location. I am not a fan of these game mechanics where the game just plays for you, but it's just another "new normal." 🙃 I really don't understand these people that call themselves "gamers" but can't be bothered to play the game. It's a little funny to me, in a laugh at stupid people kinda way.

Mounts also received an update that actually matters: higher speed within cities. This has been tricky ever since Assassin's Creed Origins. Mounts are designed to slow down and move slower in the cities by default which has been annoying. I believe it's because it helps the framerate stay stable.

My favorite update is now players will be able to mark multiple items to sell at a vendor or to be dismantled at the forge. It has been a bit of a pain only being able to select one item at a time to sell or dismantle when the game has an incredibly large amount of loot so I'm glad to see this happen so fast as far as updates go. It's one of those things that I feel should have been in the game at launch but I'm glad it'll be there now.

Here are some quick updates that sound cool:

  • Players will be able to reset their skills in the Mastery tree.
  • A new shortcut for opening the Investigation Board has been added.
  • Boss fights have been rebalanced. (no specific details)
  • Removed the pathfinder line in Photo Mode.
  • Fixed inconsistencies with the 'Throw a Kunai at the closest enemy after an assassination' perk when 'The Tool Master Gear' is equipped on Naoe. (sweet, it doesn't always work)
  • Improved double assassinations.
  • Improved Naoe's responsiveness in some instances. (whatever that means)
  • Fixed an issue where an NPC does not die after being killed by a finisher or assassination. (this one always makes me laugh)

I'm gonna stop there. This first update for Assassin's Creed Shadows is pretty huge with lots of game and bug fixes. It looks like a lot of gameplay should be even smoother than it has been. I haven't had much trouble with it, very minor issues, the update looks good.

I thought there would be more specific details that I'd care about getting into but I guess not. It's a very nice looking update. It reminds me of all of the updates I saw Star Wars Outlaws get. Just lots of really great updates with many fixes and improvements.

I wanted to share this just because I see Assassin's Creed Shadows weirdly getting tons of random hate on the steam forums and other social media, but if you visit the reddit, most people love the game there. Is reddit normally like that? It's an odd place. Their politics is msm brainwashed garbage but their gaming community is better than steam's from what I've seen so far. Anyways, you can check out the full patch notes if interested. There's a lot. Thanks for reading. Game on.
