Dragonkin: The Banished Update Adds Additional Loot Drop Feature

Dragonkin: The Banished has a new loot drop that allows players to choose the type of reward they'd like to receive. They're calling it Gift of the Eternal. When looting an eternal gift you'll be prompted to choose from a randomly generated weapon or armor piece, a randomly generated rarity of ancestral fragment, or a bundle of twenty random ingredients. You'll also get experience points. This is an addition to the already random loot you get. It's not changing the entire loot system to be just that. You'll have two rerolls available. I'm not sure if that's hourly or daily or what.

Gifts of the Eternal will appear in the campaign and are supposed to be guaranteed to drop from semi-bosses and bosses as well as some key events. In endgame, the longer you last in a Hunt gives more gifts. Dungeon Purifications also give more gifts depending on performance and progression. Higher tiers achieved in Test of Will equate to more gifts. I haven't played the endgame yet so I'm not familiar enough with it to describe it better than the information from the announcement. It basically all sounds the same, the longer you live in these challenges, the more rewards you get.

You'll also be able to set up filters and parameters for the types of Gift of Eternal you'd like to have drop more often. That ruins the entire point of random loot to me but whatevers. I am aware that other players enjoy that type of thing. This feature has its own "talent" system of a kind as you need to progress in it to unlock more filters to choose from. I kind of don't really see the point of this new loot item at all. Why not just make normal loot better?

Dragonkin: The Banished is an isometric action rpg similar to games like Diablo. It is developed by Eko Software and published by Nacon. It is in Early Access on PC with a price tag of $24.99. It is planned for PlayStation 5 and Xbox S|X but there is no release date for those yet.

I had written my impressions of the demo as well as my impressions of early access. I have been meaning to return and play Dragonkin: The Banished some more. I've just been playing other stuff. This addition looks neat. Thanks for reading. Game on.
