Milestone S.r.l. just released a demo today for their arcade racing game, Screamer. I've had an eye on this one for awhile. There's a single-player campaign while the multiplayer seems dead, on PC anyways. I'm not sure how lively it is on console. Most games like this tend to have more players online on console.
I'm very impressed by the keyboard controls especially considering that it's a twin-stick driving game. I was wondering how they'd manage this on PC since so many developers don't even bother giving proper keyboard/mouse controls (f***ing Nier Automata, what a disgrace for such an excellent game). This is badass! (No mouse use required.)
I would have preferred if the demo focused more on single races rather than pushing through the first few chapters of the story as it would have been easier and quicker to get a feel for the game but the story seems pretty dang cool, for a racing game and all. The artwork is great. The cool thing is that you can continue trying single races after completing the introduction campaign missions that are available in the demo.
I mostly enjoyed the gameplay and will definitely buy this game on sale. I was already planning to anyways but now for sure. I like the way speed boosts and attacks and defense work. It's interesting, cool, and fun.
I wasn't planning to write on my blog here anymore, especially small posts like this one but I also kind of feel the need to since activity on my discord channel is practically non-existent. That is where I usually share my thoughts like this. It's whatever. It doesn't really matter. I'm just explaining to you why this post exists in the first place. I would prefer to give a full review and add more details and this and that but sometimes I don't have a whole lot to say, I just want to share something that I think is cool.
Add me on Steam if you want. Thanks for reading. Game on.
